Windows NT 4 Setup Instructions
In order to connect to InterComm using Windows NT, you must have Remote Access Service (RAS) installed. Follow the steps below to determine if it is installed.
- From the Desktop, double-click on My Computer. Double-click on Dial Up Networking. If you have never used Dial-Up Networking before, you will receive a message stating "The phone book is empty". Otherwise Dial Up Networking should o
pen. If neither of those things appear, you need to install RAS.
- If you have never used Dial-Up Networking before, click OK and the Phonebook Entry Wizard will open. If the wizard does not open, click New.
- Type InterComm as the name of the connection. Click Next.
- Make sure only the first two boxes are checked. CLick Next.
- Enter the phone number. For V.90/Kflex 56k modems, dial 775-332-3888. Douglas County customer should CALL US for there number. Enter *70, before the phone number if you wish to disable call waiting.
- Next make sure InterComm is the chosen connection and click on More. Choose Edit entry and modem properties from the menu.
- The first tab is Basic. Make sure the proper modem and Com prot are selected. Click on the Server tab.
- For Dial-up server type, make sure PPP:Windows NT etc.. is selected. Under Network protocols, only TCP/IP should be chosen. The bottom two choices, Enable Software Compression and Enable PPP LCP Extensions should
both be checked.
- Click on TCP/IP settings. Verify that Server assigned IP address and Server assigned name server addresses. are both checked. Both boxes at the bottom should be checked. Click OK.
- Click on the Script tab. Make sure None is selceted.
- Click on the Security tab. Make sure you select Accept any authentication including clear text.
- Click on the X.25 tab. Make sure None is listed under Network. Click OK.
- You should see a window titled Connect to InterComm. Type in your username and password as it is listed on your original paperwork. Yes, it is case-sensitive. Next simply click OK and your modem should dial and connect to InterComm.
