Virus Help
Fighting viruses is simple. The biggest trick to fighting viruses is to NOT get infected in the first place. Here's some simple steps to make sure that your computer doesn't get infected.
#1. Keep your Windows up to date by going to www.windowsupdate.com on a regular basis. Windows XP and Windows 2000 can automatically install updates, if the feature is turned on in the Control Panel.
#2. Keep your Anti Virus software up to date. Anti Virus software will NOT protect you if it is not updated. Most Anti-Virus software has some form of Auto-Update that we recommend turning on.
By keeping both your Windows and Anti-Virus up to date, your odds of getting infected are less than 1%. Should you get infected, there are several ways you can get your system back to normal.
Some Anti Virus companies offer a free online virus scan on their websites for ALL current known viruses. One of the easiest to remember sites is www.antivirus.com provided by Trend Micro.
Other Anti Virus programs are not free but do offer trial versions of their software. In our opinion, the best Licensed AV software on the market at this time is Panda Anti Virus. They also offer a Free Online Virus Scan.
Not all anti virus programs require you to purchase them for their protection. Some are free such as Grisoft's AVG Anti-Virus. Their software is free, and will protect your computer at all times, however, if you use only their free version, they offer no support.
