Webpage FAQs

Creating your webpage

Posting a webpage requires two main steps. Creating your website, and Transferring the website files to our server.

There are two basic ways to create your webpage.

  1. Use a website development program
  2. Write the html code yourself    Advanced users

Using a website development program    Back to top

If you are just starting out, you probably want a "point and click" interface for creating your webpage. There are several different programs to choose from. Some are simple to use and free of charge, others are commercial products that take some getting used to but offer more advanced design options.

It is up to you to create your website. InterComm does not currently provide website design. However, we can help you transfer your files to the server.

Here are just a few of the programs to help you create your site:

The first three products above are strictly web page design programs. Microsoft Word is a word processor that allows you to save your document in html format. You may need to upgrade your version to the latest available to make use of this html fea ture.

The web design programs usually have an FTP client built into the program to allow you to publish your web page to the server. InterComm does not support these programs, therefore it is up to you to figure out how to use these publishers. We recommend saving your web page files to a specific folder on your hard drive, and transferring them via an FTP program to the server.

Writing the html yourself    Back to top

Writing basic HTML is not as difficult as most people think. The most professional sites are usually coded by hand. InterComm does not troubleshoot HTML code, however we can lead you to the right place in order to do so. Writing your own page take s some patience but with the right tools you can make the page look exactly like what you have in mind.
